Daon and Digi-Sign partner to provide Hong Kong bank with FIDO mobile solution

Daon and Digi-Sign have announced the successful implementation of a biometric solution based on FIDO Alliance standards to replace passwords with on-device identification for mobile banking with one of Hong Kong’s largest banks.

The implementation began in December 2016, and the bank has confirmed that customer adoption has been rapid, exceeding expectations, according to the announcement. This success has led the bank to expand the use of the solution within its digital channels.

“Daon’s partnership with Digi-Sign demonstrates our continued commitment to deliver the most advanced authentication technology to the banking industry,” said Tom Grissen, CEO, Daon. “We are proud to work with smart partners like Digi-Sign who have a deep expertise in security and a strong understanding of the market.”

Digi-Sign and Daon consulted with local regulatory authorities to ensure the technology met the necessary requirements.

“Thanks to our partnership with Daon, banks can also choose multi-modal biometrics solutions including facial recognition, voiceprint and fingerprint,” said Andrew Cheng, CEO, Digi-Sign. “There’s no doubt the banking industry is undergoing a massive transformation as a result of the rapid development of FinTech. Currently, our team is proactively exploring new opportunities with banks for future collaboration.”

Earlier this year, GEMADEC and Daon announced that they had formed a strategic partnership to offer IdentityX platform in African markets.
