Fingerprint Cards, Altran partner on biometric solutions for automotive industry

 

Fingerprint Cards has announced a partnership with Altran Technologies, SA to offer biometric solutions for the automotive industry.

In a statement, FPC said it will offer its fingerprint and iris recognition technology to be used in a wide range of different use cases in automotive vehicles. The Swedish biometrics company cites personalization, access control and payments as some examples of where biometrics offers a “simple and secure identification” in automotive applications.

Altran is a global innovation and engineering consulting firm founded in France in 1982. The company operates primarily in high technology and innovation consultancy and is active in most engineering domains, particularly electronics and IT technology. In 2016, Altran generated USD $2.6 billion in revenues and employed over 30,000 people around the world.

Earlier this year, Fingerprint Cards and Gentex announced a partnership agreement to bring iris-scanning technology to the automotive industry.
