vivo’s X21 smartphone features Goodix in-display fingerprint sensor

Goodix reports that its optical in-display fingerprint sensor is featured in vivo’s brand new bezel-free X21 flagship smartphone.

The sensor was being shown on demo-phones at Goodix’ booth at last month’s MWC.

In a statement, the company said that for five years it has pooled together its global research and development resources to develop the technology, resolving numerous technical difficulties in the process including: optimized optical stack design to elevate anti-interference against ambient lights; allowing smooth and rapid unlock under the sunlight; enhanced algorithm to lower the FRR of dry fingers as well as in extreme low temperature environment.

“The era of bezel-free smartphones is already at our doorsteps, our optical in-display fingerprint sensor empowers fingerprint unlock to be secure, smarter, and more convenient,” says David Zhang, Goodix CEO. “Through profound insights of market demands, customer-centricity, and dedication, Goodix will continue to explore and develop new innovative biometrics technologies and applications to provide differentiating values to its global customers and the end consumers.”
