Australian biometric technology developer Argus TrueID has acquired Queensland-based Biometric Identity Systems (BIS). According to the announcement, this acquisition is part of Argus’ larger mergers and acquisition strategy, in Australia and overseas.

Argus TrueID, Australia’s largest, privately owned biometric solutions developer, has been ranked 12th in the Australian Financial Review Fast 100 list and provides biometric solutions globally across a range of industries, including the justice, retail, banking, childcare, and manufacturing sectors. The company is headquartered in Sydney, Australia, and has offices in the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, and United Arab Emirates,

“BIS have long been recognized for their biometric expertise, particularly in justice and corrections sector.” said Ken Farrow, Argus TrueID Executive Chairman. “With the synergies that exist between the two organisations, it made sense to bring BIS into the wider Argus TrueID group, contributing to our ability to grow both here and internationally.”

BIS will continue trading under its existing brand name, with the two organizations to collaborate closely on research and development, while looking to streamline operations across sales and other operational departments.
