NEC participating in SXSW 2019 with biometric art exhibit

NEC Corporation announced it is hosting an art exhibit at this year’s South By Southwest (SXSW) that will apply a person’s unique biometric key to personalized manufacturing.

The ‘CODE‘ exhibit will convert the biometric data from iris scans of SXSW attendees into graphic patterns to generate one-of-a-kind personalized fashion items and accessories. The objective of the exhibit is “to shine a light on the unique and diverse traits we are endowed with at birth” and to “further discover the potential of biometric keys.”

The NEC exhibit will also feature products that demonstrate ‘monotsukuri’, the Japanese process for high-quality development and manufacturing.

SXSW 2019 is being held March 8 to 17 in Austin, Texas. The NEC CODE exhibit will be available from March 10 to 13 at the Austin Convention Center.
