AuthenTrend launches biometric MFA keys and targets Korean enterprise market

Taiwan-based AuthenTrend has launched a new fingerprint biometric product, joined the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association and signed a distribution partnership with AirCUVE Inc. to provide a combined biometric offering for the corporate security market in Korea.

The ATKey series of products from AuthenTrend are FIDO2-certified fingerprint USB or BLE security keys for passwordless login on services such as Microsoft Azure Active Directory or the AirCUVE server solution. With most breaches relying on weak or stolen passwords, AuthenTrend says passwordless authentication is an inevitable trend to reduce IT costs and enhance security.

“Our mission and vision is to offer a compact design and easy-to-use fingerprint key to replace passwords,” says Zake Huang, vice president of AuthenTrend.

AuthenTrend is offering the ATKey.Pro USB dongle, which it says matches fingerprint from any angle in under a second, and the ATKey.Card, which is a fingerprint-enabled smart badge with USB, BLE, and NFC transmission. The ATKey.Card also supports Mifare type A readers, and can support location tracking applications.

“We believe industry collaboration is essential to helping organizations better defend against fast-moving threats, and we are pleased to have AuthenTrend join the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association,” states Microsoft Director of Product Marketing for Security Ryan McGee. “AuthenTrend’s vision and products align with Microsoft’s mission to eliminate passwords and help people protect their data and accounts from threats.”

AirCUVE VP GS Ahn notes that multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an important trend in the global authentication software industry, which led the company to release its powerful two-factor authentication solution V-FRONT.
