Onfido receives SOC 2 Type 2 compliance

Onfido has completed the Service Organisation 2 (SOC 2), Type 2 certification which confirms the company’s commitment to protect customer data and privacy, the company announced.

Onfido received the certification following an extensive audit on operational procedures and the security methods deployed to protect customer data.

The SOC 2 report was conducted by BDO Limited, an independent auditor, and addresses design and internal control operational effectiveness related to security, availability, and confidentiality of customer data.

SOC 2 was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is the industry standard for data security, making it mandatory for companies to enforce and follow information security policies and guidelines.

The report validates for end-users Onfido’s processes and security measures for user data and privacy protection. Onfido is ISO 27001 certified.

“As a customer-first company, whose mission is to build trust in an online world, data security and privacy protection are key priorities we take seriously,” said Husayn Kassai, CEO and co-founder at Onfido.

“Where some companies only get certified in one trust principle, we have covered three – security, availability and confidentiality. By using Onfido’s AI-powered identity verification, customers know comprehensive security measures that meet AICPA’s Trust Services Principles and Criteria are in place. This is an important step for Onfido’s ongoing commitment to providing a best-in-class identity verification solution as we partner with enterprise customers globally.”

ImageWare Systems completed a SOC 2 audit of its Biometric Identity Management Platform in December.
