Advantech develops AI facial recognition edge SRP for online and offline city services

Advantech has released an AI facial recognition edge SRP (solution-ready package) enhanced with a deep learning algorithm to provide fast recognition and accurate performance for online and offline city service applications, the company announced.
The biometric facial recognition technology is compatible with any system that can capture digital images, including streaming video cameras, CCTV systems, and mobile devices, according to the announcement. The AI facial recognition edge SRP leverages Advantech’s VFR Edge intelligent server hardware for single-site monitoring.
A cloud-based industrial app is available for multiple-location installations. Future plans include adding more apps for VFR Edge on the WISE-PaaS Marketplace to advance facial recognition deployment.
Edge deployment is easy with Advantech’s VFR Edge, which can be integrated with multiple I.App solutions for cross-domain facial recognition and installed on any x86-based IPC, the company says.
Some of its key features include CPU-based analytics enhanced with deep learning AI algorithms, compatibility with various video sources such as IP cameras, RTSP streams and NVRs, and facial recognition-enabled POI management, live notifications and visitor management.
Advantech’s AI Facial Recognition Edge SRP with VFR Edge is now available for purchase.
The company’s partnership with CyberLink culminated in the announcement of major improvements in edge facial recognition performance late last year.
