Daon biometric authentication for 160 credit unions across U.S. extended by three years

Daon biometric authentication for 160 credit unions across U.S. extended by three years

CU*Answers, the cooperative Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO), has expanded a partnership with Daon to provide over 160 credit unions and their members in the U.S. with secure biometric authentication for a supplementary three years, the organization announced.

In 2018, CU*Answers integrated Daon’s IdentityX as a Service to include the Multiple Authentication Convenience Options (MACO) product with its Internet Retailer Support Center (IRSC). Within a month of release, more than 60 credit unions were already using the product.

MACO provides mobile authentication through voice recognition, PIN, fingerprint and facial recognition. The service was taken up fast in the first year, registering an adoption rate of more than 235 percent.

“We are very pleased with the rapid adoption of Daon’s IdentityX platform by CU*Answers and its credit union members and believe this is a testament to CU*Answers’ commitment in delivering more seamless, secure and convenient identity assurance,” said Tom Grissen, Daon’s CEO, in a prepared statement. “We look forward to being a part of CU*Answers’ continued success and to help drive new innovations that maximize member convenience.”

“The development of MACO and our partnership with Daon has been part of our strategy to place additional resources and focus on our mobile strategies,” said Geoff Johnson, President and COO of CU*Answers, in the announcement. “By extending our partnership with Daon, we ensure credit unions and their members continued access to a valuable feature in our mobile app toolset.”

Daon’s biometric health screening app was recently deployed to prevent COVID-19 spread at Anderson University, a private non-profit Christian liberal arts university in Anderson, Indiana.

Earlier this month, Daon entered a partnership with Denver Airport to develop contactless biometric solutions for deployment throughout the airport environment.
