Fulcrum Biometrics acquires DelaneyBiometrics to add cloud portfolio and European footprint
UK-based DelaneyBiometrics, which provides biometric cloud-based solutions for time and attendance and access control, has been acquired by Fulcrum Biometrics, giving Fulcrum a presence in the growing European market for identity and access management (IAM).
Fulcrum plans to strengthen its off-the-shelf biometrics offerings for small and medium-sized enterprises through the deal with Delaney Secure Ltd. The deal gives Fulcrum three key biometric solutions, DelaneyCloud, DelaneyID and DelaneyGatekeeper. DelaneyCloud is a plug-and-play SaaS biometric timesheet solution designed for construction companies and others with temporary or mobile workforces. DelaneyID and DelaneyGatekeeper are used by secure facilities like data centers and factories, and membership-driven businesses like gyms for access control.
“The addition of DelaneyBiometrics intellectual property further increases Fulcrum Biometrics’ share in the biometrics solution market, and expands our geographic reach into Western and Central Europe,” says Ken Nosker, CEO of Fulcrum Biometrics. “With the backing of our parent corporation, Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc., Fulcrum is aggressively expanding our multi-modal biometric solution offerings and looking to move strategically into new territories.”
Fulcrum itself was acquired by Fujitsu Frontech North America in April to grow its multi-modal authentication capabilities.
According to the announcement, Fulcrum plans to expand its presence in the UK and Europe by adding sales and support staff, and make use of Delaney’s core capabilities and expand them to offer biometrics solutions to customers outside of Europe through a cost-effective SaaS model. Sales targets for this offering will be in North and South America to begin with, followed by efforts in Africa and the Middle East. The company opened an office in Johannesburg earlier this year.
“The complete integration of the DelaneyBiometrics products into the Fulcrum Biometrics solution stack is expected to take several months,” comments DelaneyBiometrics Managing Director Paul Guckian. “Our customers can expect to receive the same great support and products as before, together with a significantly larger development team to further develop the solutions and achieve global scale.” Paul added, “Fulcrum’s leadership position in biometrics can bring organizational capability and sales growth that would have taken years to achieve organically.”
