Alcatraz AI brings touchless biometric access to Johnson Controls

Building automation provider Johnson Controls is partnering with Alcatraz AI to introduce frictionless biometric access control technology for buildings. The partnership will combine facial authentication AI solutions with Johnson Controls’ advanced access control to bring new layers of safety and interconnectivity amid the growing demand for touchless access solutions, the companies say.

Johnson Controls will integrate Alcatraz Rock, Alcatraz AI’s facial authentication platform, with its native data-driven access control technology to protect occupants and assets from building trespassers and enable healthier touchless entry systems. The two companies are promising to bring buildings to life through smart, dynamic, and data-driven solutions.

Alcatraz Rock uses real-time facial mapping combined with deep neural networks for automatic biometrics enrollment based on any given access control protocol. This streamlined procedure allows for instant authentication with facial recognition. The integration of Alcatraz Rock also replaces traditional badge processes with frictionless, touchless access control to allow businesses and organizations to safely reopen with minimal physical human contact at entry and exit points. In addition, Alcatraz Rock also utilizes AI-powered mask detection and can instantly alert security personnel about any potential policy violations.

“The ability to respectfully monitor who is accessing your building is crucial. Facial recognition technology allows us to offer our customers an extra level of protection and provide the peace of mind of knowing exactly who is entering and exiting their facilities. Johnson Controls is more committed than ever to providing our customers with the tools and integrations needed to make buildings smarter, safer, and more connected,” said John Hudson, Johnson Controls vice president and general manager of security.

Alcatraz AI Founder and CEO Vince Gaydarzhiev stated, “Frictionless entry is critical to public health right now, and this partnership allows us to take it to the next level by combining our leading facial authentication technology with Johnson Controls security solutions. From advanced tailgating detection to automatic employee check-in, the Alcatraz Rock makes hands-free entry possible while simultaneously making your building a safer place to live and work.”

The company promises easy-to-implement biometric solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into existing infrastructure without requiring a system retrofit. Its partnership with Johnson Controls will power reopening missions through intelligent, data-driven, and dynamic facilities to ensure health and safety in industries such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, and data centers, according to the press release.
