BCTC completes first round of Android face biometrics testing for Thundersoft algorithms

BCTC completes first round of Android face biometrics testing for Thundersoft algorithms

The Bank Card Test Center (BCTC) has completed its first round of testing for Android face biometrics products, testing two versions of a facial recognition algorithm from Chinese software company ThunderSoft.

According to a LinkedIn post, BCTC also helped ThunderSoft complete its filing to the Google Approved List.

Google proposed minimum biometric security policy requirements for different versions of Android in August. They include requirements for third-party laboratory testing for Face 2DClass 3 (Strong) support for Android 10/Q, products supporting Face 2DClass 3 (Strong) and Class 2 (Weak) on Android 11/R must by tested in an Android accredited laboratory, as should biometric products supporting Class 3 and Class 2 authentication on Android 12/S.

BCTC was certified to test for Android biometric security in August, which the company says made it first in the Asia-Pacific region. The Shenzhen BCTC lab was also certified for FIDO certification in December. Fime was also approved for independent Android biometrics testing late last year.
