VisionLabs and Smart Engines, Innovatrics announce biometric onboarding customer wins

The Emirates NBD bank will now allow customers to verify their identity documents via mobile when opening an account using NFC technology and a biometric selfie. The new solution, which is the first of its kind in the region according to the announcement, was developed by Emirates NBD in collaboration with VisionLabs and Smart Engines.
“I am proud that VisionLabs has become a part of the bank’s technology stack and would like to thank Emirates NBD team for their efforts in creating this next generation banking solution with us,” commented Anton Nazarkin, international development director at VisionLabs B.V.
After downloading the Emirates NBD mobile banking app, Apple users will be able to have their biometric passports scanned using NFC technology, while Android users will be able to utilize both their Emirates ID and biometric passports.
“I am sure that the positive experience with our KYC solution will enable further expansion of services based on biometrics in the bank for its customers and employees,” Nazarkin concluded.
Nikita Arlazarov, chief financial officer at Smart Engines, added: “Entering the Middle East market with Emirates NBD is an important milestone for us and I thank them for their trust in us. Not only were we able to support and fine tune data extraction for region-specific ID types, we have also developed a technology for Arabic character recognition in the process.”
Innovatrics partner brings biometric onboarding to Slovakia financial intermediary
One of Slavakia’s largest financial intermediaries, Partners Group SK, is using Innovatrics’ facial recognition to onboard and verify the identity of its customers.
Innovatrics’ Digital Onboarding Toolkit was implemented by partner Softec, enabling customers to perform ID document scanning with automatic data-reading, selfie facial recognition comparisons and biometric liveness checks.
“Properly checking the identity of a client is among the first requirements of the client-intermediary relationship. When we can’t meet with clients face to face, facial biometrics is the ideal solution that can be used wherever they are,” says Partners Group SK CEO Juraj Juras. He adds that Innovatrics’ technology carries out the checks in real-time and in compliance with GDPR requirements.
More than half of the mortgage business in Slovakia is carried out through intermediation, according to the announcement.
