Valid USA acquires ScreenCheck North America

Valid USA  has announced its acquisition of ScreenCheck North America (SCNA), the licensee for Polaroid identification and security products, which also offers biometric capture solutions.

The financial terms of this deal have not been disclosed.

“SCNA brings specialized knowledge and experience to our expanding Identification Systems business in government, campus, healthcare and education applications,” James Marsh, Vice President of Identification Systems, Valid USA said. “Their recently developed software is highly configurable, fast to deliver and economical to operate, maintain and upgrade. Their demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to client needs will complement the tailor-made solutions of Valid.”

SCNA specializes in identification systems from capturing biometrics, to manufacturing and printing cards.

Valid USA, a subsidiary of Valid SA, a publicly-traded Brazilian company, has issued over 90 million drivers’ licenses and has deployed more than 1,600 drivers’ license enrollment stations to date.

Consolidation is a major trend in the industry, and is one that is expected to continue. The Biometrics Research Group, in a recent Biometrics Research Note, argues that this trend has been so far led by multinationals and that there are many small companies in the market ripe for acquisition.
