Nuance updates DragonMobile Assistant, adds voice biometrics

Nuance Communications has announced that its DragonMobile Assistant app now features Nuance Voice Print biometric technology, as well as a new web browser experience and full landscape support.

According to the company, the app – free to Android consumers – allows users to use their individual voice print to authenticate themselves and ensure that the app only responds to them. In addition, says the company, hot key detection is now in place so users can use their voice to awaken the device and give it a command, even if Dragon Mobile Assistant is operating in the background or if the phone is locked or asleep.

“When designing Dragon Mobile Assistant, we decided that there were a few items we could not live without,” Michael Thompson, executive vice president and general manager of Nuance Mobile said.  “Among those at the top of this list are personalization and security.  With that in mind, we created the latest version of Dragon Mobile Assistant featuring Nuance Voice Print – putting intelligence and simplicity at the forefront of the user experience.”

In addition to the hotkey detection and voice biometrics, the app now also supports landscape mode which the company says optimizes the experience for drivers using the app hands-free.The web browser has also been updated, boasting faster rendering and simple sharing.

Reported previously, Nuance recently launched Nuance Forensics, a voice biometrics solutions that assists law enforcement officials and forensic experts with criminal investigations, as well as with the prosecution and defense of suspects.
