Suprema launches web-based IP biometric access control platform

Suprema announced it has launched BioStar 2, the latest version of its web-based IP access control management software that seamlessly integrates biometric technology with an enhanced security solution.

Suprema’s BioStar 2 can be accessed via web browsers, enabling it to run independently from operating systems or device platforms.

The system is driven by various automations throughout installation and maintenance. For example, automatic device discovery avoids redundant manual data input and detection processes, allowing the user to select and configure the device from the list of connected devices within the network.

All future updates for BioStar 2 will be made available from a cloud-based resource, while the optional automatic update feature ensures that the system is always up-to-date with the latest versions of firmware.

BioStar 2 is able to accommodate large system capacities – up to 1,000 devices in total. The system undergoes a hyper data transfer when performing a data transfer to a large number of devices, greatly reducing any downtime during maintenance.

Finally, the system allows unlimited time schedules and advanced user group settings to support any complex access control configurations.

“Suprema is excited to introduce the next generation access control solution that is fitting for the current technological environment” said Young S. Moon, VP of Suprema Inc. “We believe that the current technological environment is progressing in such a dynamic way, that securing flexibility and versatility to the new system was one of the key objectives.

“The system is developed to be web-friendly using the latest web standards and is not dependent on any specific operating system or client device unlike a number of different solutions in the market. With the newly found versatility, we expect BioStar 2 to serve as a foundation that we develop and expand to satisfy our customers’ growing needs.”

Previously reported, Suprema recently deployed a biometric time and attendance solution across Caribou Coffee locations in the United Arab Emirates.
