FPC receives $28.3M fingerprint sensor order from East Asian distributor

 

Fingerprint Cards (FPC) announced it has received an order for its touch fingerprint sensors FPC1025 and FPC1155 from the Taiwanese integrated circuits distributor World Peace Industrial Group (WPI), part of WPG Holdings.

FPC is planning to deliver the order for touch fingerprint sensors – which will be used by smartphone manufacturers in China — during the third quarter.

The order value of 235 MSEK (USD $28.3 million) is included in FPC’s communicated revenue guidance of more than 1,000 MSEK (USD $120.4 million) for 2015.

“This order, of which its value is similar to FPC’s total revenues for 2014, shows that touch fingerprint sensors are now being established as a standard component in a growing share of the smartphone market,” said Jörgen Lantto, acting president and CEO at FPC. “Our broad portfolio of touch fingerprint sensors, which can be integrated in many different ways into the smartphone OEMs’ products, gives us good possibilities to capture a large share of this fast growing market.”

Previously reported, Fingerprint Cards introduced two new touch fingerprint sensors, FPC1022 and FPC1035, marking the company’s smallest touch fingerprint sensors to date.
