Asian distributor orders more than $30M in touch fingerprint sensors from FPC

Fingerprint Cards AB received an order for its touch fingerprint sensors from the Asian distributor World Peace Industrial Group (WPI), part of WPG Holdings.

The sensors being purchased for delivery in Q2 and Q3 are FPC1025, FPC1035, FPC1145 and FPC1155 and will be used by smartphone manufacturers in Asia.

This order is valued at 268 MSEK which is close to $32M USD.

“This order is another evidence of the growing interest from smartphone OEMs in integrating touch fingerprint sensors in their devices,” said Jörgen Lantto, CEO of FPC. “Thanks to FPCs leading technology and broad portfolio we have a strong position in this growing market. It is clear that 2015 is the year of the major breakthrough in the use of touch fingerprint sensors in smartphones“.

FPC received an order of similar size back in May from an undisclosed module partner.
