MorphoTrust USA (Safran) has achieved ISO 14298 certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for superior security standards in its credential production process.

The certification governs security printing and states the highest possible security requirements for certain printing systems.

MorphoTrust achieved the certification at one of its credential production facilities operating in an undisclosed U.S. location, which makes the company the first identification solutions manufacturer in the Americas to receive this certification.

“The American people place a high level of trust in the authenticity of the driver license as the primary document to prove their identities,” said Dennis Kallelis, chief security officer at MorphoTrust USA. “The security processes at our credential production facilities ensure that this level of trust is well placed. We will continue to focus on achieving certifications, like ANSI, NASPO and ISO, that demonstrate our pursuit of the highest security standards possible.”

By achieving this ISO certification, MorphoTrust has been recognized for taking key steps to reduce, eliminate, and prevent security threats to the identification solutions production process as specificed by an independent organizational risk assessment.

MorphoTrust’s security printing management system complies with existing relevant laws and regulations.

It also demonstrates the company’s commitment to helping customers to becoming compliant with the REAL ID Act. The ISO certification is renewed annually.

“Protecting citizens’ privacy and personally identifiable information is integral to the work we do in producing secure documents like driver licenses,” said Dr. James Kottas, chief privacy officer at MorphoTrust USA. “Achieving the ISO certification is a demonstration of MorphoTrust’s continuing commitment to be the top experts in secure credential production in the United States.”

In 2013, the North American Security Product Organization (NASPO) also recognized MorphoTrust’s credential production facilities with a Class I certification, demonstrating the company’s ongoing efforts to eliminate the highest levels of risk to its facilities and the licenses it produces.

Previously reported, MorphoTrust USA (Safran) announced it is providing mobile driver license (mDL) software for the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) new pilot program.
