Meizu Meilan Metal smartphone features Precise Biometrics and FPC fingerprint technology

Precise Biometrics has partnered with Fingerprint Cards (FPC) to integrate their respective fingerprint technologies in Meizu’s new smartphone model, the “Meilan Metal”, which runs on the Alibaba developed operating system YunOS.

The move expands on Precise Biometrics and Fingerprint Cards’ (FPC) previous partnership in which the companies integrated their respective fingerprint recognition technologies in Meizu’s other model, the Pro 5.

Precise Biometrics’ fingerprint recognition product for mobile devices, Precise BioMatch Mobile, and FPC’s touch fingerprint sensor FPC1155, have both been integrated in the new Meizu smartphone.

Precise BioMatch Mobile offers seamless integration of fingerprint matching functionality for smartphones and tablets, and is optimized for small touch sensors in mobile environments via a unique patented hybrid algorithm.

The integration will generate license revenue for Precise Biometrics starting from the third quarter, the value of which is based on the number of sensors FPC delivers to Meizu and cannot be forecasted at this point.

FPC1155 supports 360 degree finger rotation capability, fast response time and 3D image quality.

Sales from the FPC1155 for this smartphone model are included in FPC’s previously reported revenue guidance of approximately 2,500 MSEK (USD $268.2 million) for 2015.
