Hospitals using Crossmatch fingerprint solution for background checks

Crossmatch announced that Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) member hospitals have submitted over 120,000 new hire fingerprint-based background checks via the Crossmatch livescan solution.

MCHC has been using the Crossmatch livescan solution to submit new hire fingerprints onsite. By automatically sending fingerprints through their server to the Illinois State Police database the MCHC has saved both time and money.

Under the Illinois Health Care Worker Background Check Act, all unlicensed health care workers are required to submit to a fingerprint-based criminal history check.

MCHC, which has over 150 healthcare members in the Chicago area, provides a processing service in regards to new hire fingerprint-based background checks.

Before implementing the Crossmatch solution, it would often take an entire week for hospitals to receive the results.

“The Crossmatch solution has reduced new hire criminal history background clearance time from one week to one day,” said Gary Drain, senior director of human capital services and employee benefits advisory services at MCHC. “This significantly speeds up the new hire process for our members and their employees.”

Crossmatch also offers multi-factor authentication solutions that secure access to networks and applications, which improves clinical workflow, provides proof of presence and helps meet compliance mandates.

Previously reported, Crossmatch`s Verifier Sentry handheld device was awarded the Biometric Identification Device of 2015 by Government Security News (GSN).
