Leti, an advanced-research institute within the CEA Technological Research Division, and OT (Oberthur Technologies) announced they have signed a letter of intent to collaborate on a wide range of technologies and digital solutions for security and performance in a connected world.

These areas include biometrics, component and systems security, electronics, low-power architecture, IoT and connectivity.

“The growing demand we record from our customers around the world for our cryptography and our embedded and remote management technologies to secure the IoT space will lead us to double our R&D investment in the next three years,” said Didier Lamouche, president & CEO of OT. “After Seoul and Lodz in 2015, we’ve just opened two new R&D centers in France, one in Pessac for our specialist cryptography teams and the other in Sophia Antipolis for the integration of our security technologies in the automotive and mobile spaces. The partnership with Leti is another step in ensuring OT is well positioned for the future, particularly in terms of IoT and biometrics.”

Leti CEO Marie Semeria said reliability, security and privacy must be factored into products and components from the start. “Leti and OT share common goals and complementary strengths for combining hardware and software to make digital technologies more secure,” she said. “This collaboration, which will benefit from relationships established in our previous joint projects, will focus on producing novel and robust security solutions beginning at the concept stage.”
