Identos launches first new Tactivo product since acquiring smartcard reader brand

IDENTOS has taken over the Tactivo brand of Mobile Smartcard Solutions from Precise Biometrics, and announced the launch of Tactivo Smartcard Reader Sleeve for iPhone 7 & 8. The new Tactivo products are the first solely developed by IDENTOS since it took full operational responsibility for the brand, including product development, patents, trademark rights, manufacturing, sales and marketing, and customer support as of January 1, 2018.

IDENTOS says the Tactivo for iPhone 7 & 8 Sleeve is nearly identical to the Tactivo for iPhone 6/6S, making it easy to upgrade. Tens of thousands of Tactivo smartcard reader sleeves are deployed globally to read CAC, PIV, and other eID cards for the U.S. Department of Defense and Federal agencies, and European enterprises and governments.

“We selected IDENTOS with its roots in the smartcard reader business and focus on mobile security as partner to us to handle the Tactivo business,” said Torgny Hellström, Executive Chairman of the Board at Precise Biometrics. “The partnership is developing well. It is important for Precise Biometrics that our customers are taken care of so they can continue to operate with Tactivo and IDENTOS demonstrates this with the announcement of this new product.”

“We are proud that we managed to take over the complete Tactivo product line, including new product development, manufacturing, logistics and customer support. Also, we have managed to drive new product development for the iPhone 7 & 8 in a very short time frame. We are very committed to the Tactivo product line and will introduce more exciting products during the course of the year” explains Robert Schneider, CEO of Identos GmbH.

Last year Biometric Update had the opportunity to discuss the details of IDENTOS’ acquisition of Precise Biometrics smartcard solutions business with IDENTOS President Mike Cook and VP of Sales for North America Jeff Scott.
