Precise Biometrics launches smartcard fingerprint matching algorithm as stand-alone solution

Precise Biometrics has launched its Precise BioMatch Card fingerprint recognition algorithm as a stand-alone solution for the smartcard market to provide leading biometric performance optimized for constrained computing environments like Secure Elements, the company announced.

The algorithm has already come to market included in Precise BioMatch Embedded, and it has been deployed in several trials, including one of an AirPlus International contactless biometric payment card, which is the first of its kind, according to the announcement, and the first pilot of biometric payment cards in the U.S. with Visa and Mountain America Credit Union.

“Smart cards is the next growth area for fingerprint technology. In payment cards alone, there are over three billion cards issued globally every year. As a frontrunner in the development of biometric payment cards, it´s important for us to provide Precise BioMatch Card that specifically addresses this market,” said Torgny Hellström, Executive Chairman of the Board at Precise Biometrics.

In addition to supporting fingerprint matching in a Secure Element, Precise BioMatch Card supports sensors as small as 30 mm2.

The company recently announced that Precise BioMatch Mobile is deployed in the new Huawei Honor 10.
