vivo NEX features Goodix in-display fingerprint sensor

Goodix announced that its latest optical in-display fingerprint sensor and capacitive fingerprint sensor will be featured exclusively on the vivo NEX smartphone. The companies previously collaborated on the X21 smartphone.

According to the announcement, the in-display fingerprint sensor deployed in the NEX features higher resolution with an optimized optical stack design and improvements in fingerprint image accuracy and unlock speed. The compact module size offers a more flexible design space for mobile devices. The company adds that it has eliminated the need for fingerprint modules to be attached to the display, simplifying the manufacturing process.

Goodix anticipates more brands to release flagship smartphones featuring its in-display fingerprint sensor technology in the second half of 2018.

“Through years of exploration and innovation, Goodix’s optical in-display fingerprint sensor has been achieved continuous technical breakthrough and mass production experience,” said Bo Pi, the Goodix CTO. “Driven by excellence and through relentless effort, we will continue to explore the cutting-edge technology and deliver variety of innovative products to customer base worldwide.”
