Neurotechnology selected as a strategic algorithm partner by NEXT Biometrics

NEXT Biometrics has purchased a source code license for the FingerCell algorithm from Neurotechnology. According to the announcement, the algorithm allows solution developers integrating NEXT fingerprint sensor technology to quickly customize their own products for superior performance and faster time-to-market.

“NEXT is very pleased to offer this outstanding software solution to support our customers in developing innovative biometrics systems and devices,” said Ritu Favre, CEO, NEXT Biometrics. “The software license from Neurotechnology helps customers quickly tailor their products for specific requirements. In doing this, we’re enabling our them to bring their biometric solutions to market faster and placing more of our advanced sensor technology directly at the fingertips of end-users.”

NEXT has purchased the full rights for the FingerCell algorithm for use with its sensors. Products, solutions and development kits incorporating NEXT’s fingerprint sensor technology will now include the algorithm. As a result, the company is enhancing its product offerings with embedded modules and readers that can be seamlessly integrated into customer solutions in the smart card, government ID, access control and notebook market segments.

Products using the FingerCell algorithm allow import and export of ISO fingerprint templates and on-card comparison with mainstream secure elements and operating systems.

“Neurotechnology is proud to be selected as a strategic algorithm partner by NEXT Biometrics,” said Dr. Algimantas Malickas, founder and owner of Neurotechnology. “Our professional biometric algorithms have consistently received top rankings in the Minutiae Interoperability Exchange (MINEX) and other biometric technology evaluations.”
