IntelliVision face recognition integrated in smart home systems

Nortek Security & Control has launched a pair of new smart home product lines to its Elan group featuring IntelliVision facial recognition technology, CEPro reports.

IntelliVision was acquired by Nortek in May, and the integration marks the first clear indication of how Nortek plans to combine its capabilities, after IntelliVision launched its facial recognition as a cloud service in August.

One product line features a range of different indoor and outdoor Elan cameras integrated with IntelliVision’s advanced motion analytics. Nortek has also integrated IntelliVision’s technologies in a new line of 8 or 12-inch intelligent touch panels with facial biometrics and voice recognition for controlling smart home systems. The systems use IntelliVision analytics to identify individuals and respond with personalized options, as well as to launch commands automatically on recognition.

“With the control enabled by face recognition and voice, these new interfaces go way beyond what we’d normally call a ‘touch’ panel,” explained ELAN Product Manager Jeff Shaw. “They are fully interactive control panels that redefine what smart home control can be.”

The systems include Auto-Discover and Auto-Configure features to enable easy installation with a single click.

“Our goal is to make the ELAN smart home more than just smart, and more than just connected,” continued Shaw. “With these new intelligent and interactive panels, we’re making the smart home experience more intuitive as well.”
