Vision-Box bringing biometric self-boarding tech to BLR airport
In an effort to transform the passenger experience and create a future-ready airport, Vision-Box and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) have agreeed to launch paperless biometric self-boarding technology at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru.
The goal of the program is to make the passenger experience paperless from registration to boarding. Biometric technology identifies passengers by their face as they move across the airport, avoiding stops and the repeated presentation of boarding passes, passports or other physical identity documents.
BLR airport will become the first airport in India to have an end-to-end solution for paperless air travel.
“BLR Airport will continue to lead from the front in transforming air travel in India by leveraging on technology,” said BIAL MD & CEO Hari Marar. “Vision-Box’s state-of-the-art biometric technology combined with its passenger flow platform will enable a seamless journey for our passengers, without obstacles, waiting lines or hassles, from registration to boarding.”
Jet Airways, Air Asia and SpiceJet passengers will be the first users when the first implementation at Bangalore Airport is completed in Q1 2019.
In a recent interview with Biometric Update, WTTC President and CEO Gloria Guevara explained how the the will is strong among governments and stakeholders in the travel and tourism sector to implement biometrics.
