Aratek mobile biometric terminals deployed at Pakistan border

Pakistan media outlet Dunya News recently featured a video clip showcasing an Aratek mobile biometric terminal in use at a border crossing in Pakistan. In an announcement about the coverage Aratek notes the South Asia country has partnered with them to bring high technology to the war against terror.

Anyone attempting to cross into the country’s border are required to be identified through the biometric verification system. After presenting their national IDs, they are then required to press their fingers on Aratek fingerprint mobile terminals for capture and identification.

The device is connected to the central database through 3G/4G network, allowing border patrols to pull up the credentials of the card holders within seconds using AFIS. Patrols are able to instantly determine whether the card holders are to be allowed entry or detained as terror suspects.

In a recent interview with Biometric Update, Aratek VP of Sales Samuel Wu discussed the company’s intellectual property, its new mobile biometric technology, and trends in mobile biometrics.
