The EAB (European Association for Biometrics) has formed a strategic partnership with the Planet Biometrics 2019 conference and exhibition, and EAB Chief Executive Michiel Van Der Veen has been appointed conference chair.

Planet Biometrics 2019 is part of Identity Week 2019, along with SDW 2019 and Digital:ID 2019. The events take place June 11 to 13 in London, and are expected to draw more than 3,000 attendees. Industry leaders will gather at Planet Biometrics 2019 to discuss societal issues and ongoing technological and practical implementation considerations associated with biometric technologies.

“We are delighted that EAB’s Board has agreed to partner with us for Planet Biometrics 2019 – and in particular we welcome Michiel as our Planet Biometrics Conference Chair,” comments Identity Week Conference Director Mark Lockie. “EAB’s extensive expertise and thought leadership comes from its diverse membership, which includes government, commerce, industry, and academia.”

A pair of EAB seminars recently explored the use of biometrics for know-your-customer processes in the financial sector.

“The EAB is a leading voice for digital ID and biometrics in Europe, so it is a natural fit for us to partner with such a high-calibre identity event,” says Van Der Veen. “We shall be lending our extensive expertise to the Planet Biometrics 2019 programme, and are looking forward to welcoming our network to take part in June.”
