EAB hosting seminars this week about biometrics in the financial sector

The European Association for Biometrics (EAB) this week is hosting two seminars on the use of biometrics in the financial sector. The first is being held in Amsterdam on December 5 and the other is on December 7 in Frankfurt.

The seminars will be chaired by EAB CEO Michiel van der Veen, with the tagline “Do you REALLY know your customers?” Van der Veen told Biometric Update that he expects to have about 150 to 200 participants in each workshop. Van der Veen was appointed EAB CEO this summer.

The seminars are organized in partnership with Bitkom and are attended by the financial sector and ID industry. Attendees will discuss the biometric trends and topics that are helping to improve customer identification including: biometrics in the era of GDPR and how that works; mobile biometrics; methods for ID verification, and; end-user experiences and best practices.

Registration is required and participation is free of charge for EAB and Bitkom members and for representatives from the financial sector.

According to new research released by Mitek, identity verification powered by artificial intelligence could reduce the costs of Know Your Customer and Anti-money Laundering processes by 70 percent.
