NEXT Biometrics Aadhaar-certified fingerprint tech integrated in Basewin POS terminals

NEXT Biometrics announced today that Shanghai Basewin Technology Co. has started to integrate its Aadhaar-certified fingerprint sensor modules into point-of-sale (POS) terminals. First volumes of the NEXT NB 2023 modules have been shipped.

Shanghai Basewin Technology Co. is one of the biggest PDA ODM solution providers in China and delivers a range of high-end handheld and POS terminal solutions for administrative law enforcement, finance, traffic and other applications.

“We are pleased that another POS manufacturer has chosen our certified fingerprint sensor technology for Aadhaar based solutions,” said Alain Faburel, NEXT Biometrics chief sales and marketing officer. “This clearly underlines the advantages and superior performance of our technology.”

“NEXT Biometrics’ fingerprint sensor technology is a proven and trusted solution,” added Steven Ding, CTO of Shanghai Basewin Technology Co., Ltd. “Reliability and technological excellence are key selection criteria for us.”

This announcement follows recent news that MobiOcean also selected NEXT’s certified fingerprint technology for use in its Aadhaar authentication and payments mobile platform. NEXT Biometrics has also been selected as the supplier of Aadhaar-certified fingerprint readers to the Maharashtra Department Of Agriculture for use in the World Bank-funded Project on Climate Resilient Agriculture (POCRA).

NEXT Biometrics began expanding its operations in India last August to support the company’s increased activity in the country. NEXT’s team in India is led by Crossmatch, Safran Morpho and Gemalto veteran Ameya Bhagwat, and also includes Sanjith Sundaram, who spent five years with the Unique Identification Authority of India.

Last month NEXT Biometrics announced it had raised $18.7M and reported a 34 percent leap in gross margin for 2018.
