Fingerprint Cards’ biometrics featured in new Huawei, Honor and LG smartphones

Fingerprint Cards announced today that new smartphone models launched by Huawei, Honor and LG feature its biometric fingerprint sensor technology.

The Huawei P20 Lite, Huawei Y9 Prime, Honor 20 Lite, LG Aristo 3+, LG STYLE2, and LG Stylo 5 have recently launched featuring Fingerprint Cards’ FPC1511 fingerprint sensor. Released last June, the FPC1511 is a fourth-generation fingerprint sensor the Swedish biometrics company says is designed to enable easy integration of fingerprint sensors in the smartphone market.

In Fingerprint Cards’ May 2019 earnings report, CEO Christian Fredrikson said that the company is planning a new sensor generation based on the FPC1511 that will be a major part of the company’s portfolio of capacitive sensors for 2019. Fredrikson also noted that the generational change to the FPC1511 should also drive higher profitability for the company. In last week’s Q2 report Fredrikson said that he expects the first smartphones to use this new sensor to be launched as early as this year.

Earlier this year Fingerprint Cards surpassed one billion sensors shipped, and Fredrikson says it delivers seven sensors every second year-round.
