Veridos appoints Andreas Räschmeier chief executive officer

Veridos has appointed Andreas Räschmeier CEO effective November 1. Veridos is the joint venture of the Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) security group and the German federal printing office, Bundesdruckerei, and is a project partner in ID cards and identification projects worldwide.

Räschmeier previously worked in a number of senior and management positions at the G+D group parent. The graduate business engineer most recently served as global vice president of G+D’s Currency Technology group company and brings extensive expertise in security solutions to his new position at Veridos.

Räschmeier will succeed Hans-Wolfgang Kunz who is due to retire. Kunz has led the joint venture of G+D and the Bundesdruckerei since its inception in 2015. Kunz, a longtime member of the G+D Management Board, had previously developed the banknote processing and inspection systems segment which under his leadership became a global market leader.

“We thank Hans-Wolfgang Kunz for his loyalty and exceptional, outstanding work,” says Group CEO Ralf Wintergerst. “He not only contributed decisively to Veridos’ success in the company’s founding years, but also provided important impetus for the further development and growth of the G+D Group over four decades. With Andreas Räschmeier, we welcome an able successor from within our own ranks, who will continue the Veridos success story.”

“I’m greatly honored by the trust that G+D and the Bundesdruckerei are placing in me and am excited about my new and challenging responsibilities,” adds Räschmeier. “My principle aim in times of rapid growth is to lead Veridos with circumspection and stability towards the future.”

This past summer the Mexican Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE) awarded Veridos a year-year contract to design and produce more than 74 million biometric voter ID cards for the country.
