NEC equips West HQ in Australia with biometric kiosks for authentication

NEC

NEC has entered a partnership with West HQ, an entertainment, fitness, lifestyle and accommodation destination in Sydney, Australia, to deploy NEC IT infrastructure technology, biometrics, CCTV security and public safety at the Sydney Coliseum Theatre, the company announced.

“NEC has been intimately involved with the design and construction of the Sydney Coliseum Theatre at West HQ to ensure the customer experience from arrival to exit is exceptional. This really will be a center of technological excellence, a world-class venue with world-class technology solutions, and a one-of-a-kind for Sydney,” said NEC Australia Managing Director, Mitsuhiro Murooka.

West HQ and NEC aim to deliver a superior customer experience by introducing seamless entry through ‘multi-authentication’ kiosks equipped with biometric facial recognition from NEC, as well as LED and digital display for customers to get information about schedules and meals, wayfinding, interactive customer promotions and CCTV security, among others.

“[The NEC LED screen] is the first of its kind in Australia and also its configurations. It has become a huge feature point for our guest arrival. We wanted to make a statement as people came in across the bridge which is our front door, and it is innovating in its self and it was something special and by judging by the number of photos that have appeared on Instagram of people doing everything from taking selfies to dancing on it it’s been a hit,” said Craig McMaster from Sydney Coliseum Theatre.

It was revealed last year that NEC is also the facial recognition provider for the Australian Federal Police.
