Idaptive acquired by CyberArk for $70M for context-awareness and multi-cloud capabilities

Idaptive has been acquired by privileged access management software-as-a-service (SaaS) company CyberArk for $70 million to deliver a comprehensive artificial intelligence-based, adaptive and context-aware security-first approach to managing identities, according to an announcement from CyberArk.

The deal allows CyberArk to extend its identity management and security capabilities for different levels of privilege to hybrid and multi-cloud environments. This will help create more efficient and seamless user experiences and simplify regulatory compliance, the company says.

CyberArk also suggests that with modern IT environments, any identity can become privileged, based on the systems, environments, applications or data being accessed, or the type of operation being performed.

Idaptive brings its technologies architected for Zero Trust and least privilege access, including single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA) and identity lifecycle management for workforces, consumers, third parties and machines. The capabilities are used to step-up suspicious interactions and quickly carry out low-risk requests for a combination of security and productivity. Robust multi-directory support enables improved operation efficiency without requiring identity information to be replicated.

The company also introduced adaptive MFA for endpoint logins and passwordless authentication earlier this year, and its NGA platform supports biometric authentication through FIDO2 specifications.

The companies claim the combined entity will be the only modern identity platform in the industry with a security-first approach.

“With cyber attacks on the rise, organizations need modern, comprehensive solutions to make better, continuous access and authorization decisions for the broadest range of users,” says Udi Mokady, founder, chairman and CEO, CyberArk. “With Idaptive, CyberArk will offer customers a SaaS-delivered, security-first approach to managing identities – with Privileged Access Management at its core – that reduces risk, simplifies operations and improves business agility. We are thrilled to welcome the Idaptive team to CyberArk.”

Idaptive was spun out of the IDaaS offering from Centrify on January 1, 2019
