BIO-key biometric authentication streamlines medical device company’s training platform

Fingerprint-Identification

Global medical device company ICU Medical has expanded the use of BIO-key International’s biometric authentication to streamline the check-in process for employee training programs and to automate FDA compliance recordkeeping, the company announced.

The two companies have been collaborating since 2005, when BIO-key’s biometric technology was used to streamline and automate an FDA-regulated Quality Control (QC) offboarding process within Oracle ERP during product manufacturing. This deployment saved production time and provided real-time authorization and training to the QC team.

For 15 years, BIO-key biometric authentication has helped seamlessly onboard users worldwide without requiring physical tokens for each team member. The latest collaboration involves enhancing the iLearning platform for staff training with biometric authentication. The platform is from Seertech.

“We are thrilled to see ICU Medical finding new ways to streamline operations using their investment in BIO-key’s one-touch, strong authentication,” Jim Sullivan, BIO-key SVP of Strategy and Chief Legal Officer said in a prepared statement. “By adding BIO-key efficiency to their digital learning initiatives, the company simplified the process of maintaining its training requirements, while providing its employees with the tools to make their jobs easier.”

BIO-key recently created the new position Vice President of Product Marketing and appointed IAM industry and PortalGuard veteran Kimberly Johnson to grow the newly combined platforms of BIO-key and its recently-acquired PortalGuard solution.
