Imprivata acquires Fairwarning to upgrade digital identity solution for healthcare

Imprivata has acquired patient privacy intelligence firm FairWarning to improve its healthcare-focused digital ID offering.
The digital identity solution offered by Imprivata will now integrate Fairwarning’s analytics and insider threat detection platform.
Fairwarning’s algorithm is capable of analyzing large quantities of data from EMR, CRM, HR, among others, and applies data logic and machine learning to identify potential information breaches, according to the announcement.
The company also oversees the analysis of Patient Data Privacy Intelligence and Drug Diversion analytics to assist compliance officers in the protection of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Imprivata, on the other hand, focuses on the development of biometric and digital identity security solutions for the healthcare industry. In October, the company partnered with biometric device supplier Keyo on a new contactless biometric palm scanner to improve the safety of patient matching.
Given the firms’ adjacent fields of expertise, the acquisition of Fairwarning will now aid Imprivata to enhance its digital identity management solutions for health delivery organizations.

Imprivata digital identity framework includes a series of different tools. These include identity governance, Mobile IAM and provisioning, and secure healthcare communications.
Also, multi-factor authentication solutions, positive patient identification, and enterprise single sign-on (SSO).
