HooYu biometrics approved in Germany, new UI tools launched

Age verification and customer experience technologies unveiled

HooYu was approved by the German Commission for the Protection of Young People in the Media (Kommission für Jugendmedienschutz) last week as a suitable age verification system in the country.

The Kommission is the institution in charge of ensuring that concepts and systems meet the technical requirements to perform age verification using ID document validation and identification via biometrics.

In Germany, according to the Youth Media Protection State Treaty (Jugendmedienschutz-Staatsvertrag), potentially harmful content for minors can only be published and distributed if technical measures are deployed to ensure only adults can access the content.

The HooYu platform will serve this purpose, enabling adult content providers like gambling operators to authenticate their users using a selfie and a German ID document via biometric liveness detection.

Expanded UI and UX tool suite launched

In order to help its banking customers increase their success rate in performing know-your-customer (KYC) checks, HooYu has also released an expanded set of UI and UX tools.

The company notes that its research suggests 85 percent of fintech and e-money providers consider streamlining their onboarding processes to be their best strategy to grow their customer base.

HooYu worked with major players in several online industries testing its new solution, which enables digitally-savvy users to follow dynamic prompts for a fast-tracked experience, while users needing more support can return to the HooYu Journey Hub for further guidance on how to pass their KYC checks.

The new UI tools also provide more customization options for banks and fintechs, such as editing for icons, buttons, fonts and brand colors, and tailored messages. Custom Style Sheets can be added to match the appearance to the customer’s brand without needing to access the secure developer resource, according to the announcement.

“We’re constantly optimising and A/B testing the Suits Me application process to ensure it is streamlined for our customers,” states Kim Roberts, marketing and communications director at Suits Me, a fast growing fintech providing accounts for the underbanked.  “The new HooYu digital journey UI tools allow us to build the best possible customer journey, driving growth and ensuring KYC controls.”
