ImageWare Systems introduces mobile biometric authentication app

ImageWare Systems introduced GoVerifyID, a mobile application that provides out-of-band biometric authentication from a mobile device, at Super Mobility Week in Las Vegas this past week.

Using multi-modal biometrics with a mobile device, ImageWare’s GoVerifyID provides out-of-band verification, does not require any mobile front-end coding and can also be integrated into existing enterprise applications. The solution can be purchased via license or subscription as part of the company’s identity-as-a-services offering, GoCloudID.

ImageWare CTO David Harding delivered a presentation entitled “Mobile Biometrics: BYOD -Bring Your Own Identity” at Super Mobility Week.

In his presentation, Harding discussed the current state of mobile biometric user authentication and multi-modal biometric accountability and assurance.

“It’s been nearly a year since the breach of Target’s payment card system last holiday season, which was a wake-up call to retailers and card-accepting enterprises across the globe,” said Jim Miller, chairman and CEO of ImageWare. “The need for increased security has been further demonstrated by the breach of Home Depot’s payment security systems and Apple’s recent iCloud incident, where personal photos of Hollywood celebrities were compromised on the weakest link in cloud services — smartphones. We believe our anonymous, multi-modal biometric GoVerifyID software solution can provide a significant barrier to prevent these breaches.”

Previously reported, ImageWare Systems signed a three-year contract with an undisclosed major international retailer to provide its multi-modal biometric identity management product suite that runs on the Fujitsu Trusted S5 Cloud platform.
