NEXT Biometrics to supply fingerprint sensors for multinational tier 1 company

NEXT Biometrics announced it has signed an agreement to supply multiple fingerprint sensors for an undisclosed multinational tier 1 company within the smartphone, tablet and notebook market.

To be delivered in the second quarter of 2015, the fingerprint sensor agreement is the result of 12 months of evaluations and negotiations.

More details about the agreement will be disclosed upon the launch of the products in the second quarter of 2015.

The unit volume projected by the customer is in the seven digits.

“It is with great pleasure we can now report that we have won our first ’major league’ design win,” said NEXT Biometrics CEO Tore Etholm-Idsøe. “NEXT is now 1 of only 3 world market sensor suppliers to secure such a status from a multinational tier-1.”

Previously reported, NEXT Biometrics Group has increased its production capacity to 1.8 million fingerprint area sensors per month.
