Data center security firm Digitus Biometrics announced it has named James MacDougall executive vice president of global sales and marketing.

In this role, MacDougall will oversee Digitus Biometrics’ strategic sales, business development, marketing and customer relationship strategies.

MacDougall has over 15 years of direct and channel sales and marketing leadership within the data center, cloud and network security industries.

“Adding James to our executive team is an important step in our ongoing strategy to accelerate growth and acquire greater market share across targeted geographies and sectors,” said David Orischak, CEO of Digitus. “James joins Digitus with a proven track record of successfully building and growing enterprise-class sales organizations at leading data center services companies. We’re excited to have him on board and harness his expertise and innovative ideas on how we can take our sales and marketing practices to the next level.”

He most recently served as sales vice president at VAZATA. Prior to that, he served as the sales director for Digital Realty’s federal solutions.

He has also headed up enterprise data center sales for Qwest Communications, leading his team to significant growth and helped usher the company’s transition to the cloud.

“The market is in need of a company that can economically deliver highly effective physical access security to protect its data…especially in today’s cyber-sophisticated and mobile world,” said MacDougall. “Digitus Biometrics is that company. I’m thrilled to join their team and help position the organization for long-term sustained growth by focusing on creative solutions and customer relationships.”

Previously reported, Digitus Biometrics recently released its new db Cabinet Sentry server cabinet access control platform, which can be deployed in either a networked or standalone setting.
