Next Biometrics’ Tier 1 client orders 200,000 more fingerprint sensors

Next Biometrics Group ASA announced that following three months of integration work and preparation, its first Tier 1 design-win client has decided to integrate Next fingerprint sensors into two more of its products.

Next Biometrics said its first Tier 1 client increased its previous order by about 20%.

The result is an additional 200,000 fingerprint sensors for a total order amounting to seven digits.

“The Tier 1 client order expansion is significant,” said Next Biometrics CEO Tore Etholm-Idsoe. “We see this as confirmation we are on track with our first Tier 1 client company and that they consider it a clear opportunity to differentiate in their product space using NEXT fingerprint sensor technology.”

Next, which provides fingerprint sensors based on its patented technology, did not disclose the name of the client or the specific applications being developed.

Previously reported, Next Biometrics Group ASA recently received multiple orders from six companies this month for fingerprint sensors to be integrated in new small mass market product formats.
