Precise Biometrics wins Tactivo order from the Defense Logistics Agency

Biometric technology firm Precise Biometrics has won an order of Tactivo mobile smart card readers from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) within the US Department of Defense.

The value of the order is 975,000 SEK ($114,000 USD) and will impact first quarter revenues 2016 with the full amount.

Tactivo is a line of mobile smart card readers for iOS and Android devices that provides convenient and secure access to restricted resources from mobile devices. The smart card readers can be used with a range of applications that enable different use cases, such as secure browsing, e-mail, document signing. The solution is based on the existing Common Access Card (CAC) infrastructure and adds to the overall usability of the long standing smart card system.

The order includes Tactivo for iPhone 6 and has been placed through Precise Biometrics’ partner Carahsoft.

“The interest in Tactivo within the US Department of Defense continues to grow and we are pleased that DLA expands the number of Tactivo users,” says Håkan Persson, CEO of Precise Biometrics. “The solution increases employee flexibility and efficiency, while ensuring a high level of security by utilizing two-factor authentication.”

This past December, Precise Biometrics won an earlier order of Tactivo mobile smart card readers from the Defense Logistics Agency which was placed through Precise Biometrics’ partner TX Systems.
