Yonhap News Agency is reporting that KEB Hana Bank and Woori Bank revealed that they will employ an iris recognition solution to authenticate mobile banking clients.
They plan to introduce the system to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung’s newest phablet that has an iris scanner. The iris recognition solution will be available only for those who use the Galaxy Note 7.
The Galaxy Note 7 is to be release in South Korea in mid-August.
A third South Korean bank, Shinhan Bank, is waiting until after the launch of the Galaxy Note 7 to decide whether to deploy the biometric identification system for mobile banking clients.
