DERMALOG showcasing ‘world’s fastest’ AFIS at TRUSTECH

German biometrics provider Dermalog has released the next generation of its Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) this week at TRUSTECH and, according to a company statement, test body SGS-TÜV Saar has confirmed that the software reliably allows the processing of almost one billion matches per second.

The world record for fingerprint matching is now 914,959,533 in one second per standard blade server.

DERMALOG founder and managing director Günther Mull: “As the speed of fingerprint matching increases, maintaining accuracy is a challenge. However, there is no loss of quality with our AFIS. The experts from SGS-TÜV Saar have confirmed that the quality of our AFIS is outstanding in terms of both coding and matching.”

AFIS is one of DERMALOG’s core products. As a multi-biometrics provider, the company is able to link the AFIS fingerprinting system to other biometric parameters. For example, iris and face recognition can be used for multi-modal identification. According to Mull: “We are a developer, a manufacturer and a system integrator all in one. DERMALOG is the biometrics innovation leader and our products are made in Germany. We stand for the fulfilment of the highest safety requirements and intuitive operation.”
