Safran technology to verify and authenticate voters in Kenya election

Safran technology to verify and authenticate voters in Kenya election

Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has appointed Safran Identity & Security to provide the biometric technology needed to power the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS) for the August general elections that will feature six major elections, including for president.

Safran Identity & Security will provide the IEBC with its secure biometric tablets. More than 45,000 MorphoTablet’s will be used to verify the voters list before the election and to authenticate the voters with their fingerprints and photo before allowing them to vote. The tablets will also ensure secure transmission of the voter turnout data and election results.

“We are providing the IEBC with a complete and secure solution in record time in order to contribute to the successful organization and delivery of these elections,” commented Anne Bouverot, CEO and Chair of Safran Identity & Security. “We thank the IEBC for entrusting us as a partner in this major democratic event for Kenya.”
