Ingenico launches new mobile biometric POS terminal

Ingenico Group has launched its Move/2500 B mobile POS terminal, featuring fingerprint authentication and compliance with PCI-v5 and STQC.

Financial inclusion and government regulations provide a market opportunity for biometric POS systems, according to the announcement, with India soon requiring them, Mexican banks obliged to verify the identity of loan recipients, and the recent certification of fingerprint authentication by EMVco.

“We are pleased to introduce the Move/2500 B, our third generation biometric POS, designed to support financial inclusion scenarios as well as innovative payment schemes in mature markets,” said Frédéric Lepeintre, VP Marketing of the Banks and Acquirers BU at Ingenico Group. “The launch of the Move/2500 B illustrates Ingenico Group’s commitment towards reaching the two billion people excluded from financial services. It also demonstrates our ability to adapt to new regulatory frameworks and consumer demand for fingerprint authentication.”

Ingenico says the Move/2500 B is highly secure and cost efficient, supports all payment methods, including those relying on national ID, and matches fingerprints in a fraction of a second with a market leading fingerprint sensor that meets FBI standards.

The Move/2500 B will be available in India starting in June, before being rolled out in the Middle East.
