Finovate Spring panel examines role of biometrics and machine learning in fraud prevention

Simility co-founder and CTO Kedar Samant will join Chime director of risk management Elizabeth Vogelsang for a panel discussion titled “Fireside Chat: Managing your KYC obligations from on board and throughout your customer life cycle” today at Finovate Spring 2018 in Santa Clara, CA.

The discussion will focus on the role of biometrics and machine learning in protecting financial institutions and their customers from fraud and other crimes.

Kedar Samant is a fraud detection industry veteran, responsible for the technology underlying Simility’s algorithm engine and platform. Prior to co-founding Simility, he was at Google, where he started, grew and led the teams responsible for fighting fraud and abuse on a range of products, including AdWords, AdSense and Commerce.

Elizabeth Vogelsang has more than ten years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to her current role at Chime, Vogelsang served at companies including UniRush and Activehours, helping small startups scale their operations and risk mitigation strategies.

“Biometrics and machine learning have become key elements in KYC controls,” explains Samant. “These technologies are paramount to identifying unusual or suspicious behavior in real-time, ultimately detecting and preventing fraud before it occurs. I look forward to participating in this discussion to talk about innovations in biometrics and machine learning, and their growing importance in the ongoing fight against fraud.”
