Ipsidy launches mobile phone-based biometric physical access control solution

Ipsidy has officially launched its Access out-of-the-box mobile biometric identity solution for physical access management. Any other group which requires access to a secure environment, such as residents, employees, students, or patients can be enrolled to protect a perimeter and monitor area entrances and exits.
Access works with Ipsidy’s Concierge tablet-based application, which provides the site attendant with real-time monitoring of enrolled people, as well as registration, reporting, and analytical tools. In addition to commercial, residential, and public buildings, Access can be deployed at “pop-up” security perimeters, and offers customizable workflows to meet the site’s unique operational and business requirements, according to the announcement. It can be used to create digital visitor passes for a specific date and time, and to streamline entry authorization.
The tablet used by the attendant, the participant’s mobile phone, and Bluetooth beacons are the only hardware elements needed to create workflows with Access. Access pricing is based on the number of users, but start at only a few hundred dollars per month.
Ipsidy announced $9.6 million in equity funding as it reported significant earnings growth in its fiscal Q2. That announcement also mentioned that Access is already in production service for a major real estate operator in the U.S.
